Making a disc is hard, I mean really hard! There's not a book or a YouTube video to watch on how to do it. You make your best educated guess and roll with it. Sometimes it goes off just perfect and others, well not so much. Almost to the point where I just want to scream UNCLE! But just like on the course you have to just brush it off and move on to the next hole. In this case, the next name. It's story time. The Spire was designed to be our 12 speed driver. Filling that need for the high speed mold in so many players' bags. But when we popped our first one out of the oven, it was too small. To small you say, how does that happen? Well first off we are talking a very small amount. Like hairs at times, but there is a PDGA legal limit and we were under it. The dreaded shrinkage. How to fix it.....widen the disc of course. Which we did. But when you widen the outside of a disc but not the inside you increase the rim width, making the disc faster and more stable. Which is exactly what happened to this disc. We created an extremely over stable monster of a driver. I mean this thing is like the Uncle who shows up to the family Wiffle Ball game with a mouth guard, it's all out. Is that a bad thing? No, absolutely not! But this is a disc that may not fit in as many players' bags as we hoped for our next release. We also need a little more time baking up these beauties to get our lighter weight recipe just right. So the mold formerly known as the Spire is now the Uncle. We're gonna let our Uncle rest for a bit before we let him come out and play but, you will see him again some day. There are a few of our Uncles that will make it out to the course from our first run. If you get a chance, give it a try. We will be sending a few out to our retailers with their orders as well. What about the Spire, what about the next release. Well not only will you be seeing the Uncle again, but the Spire as well. See we believe that the quality of our product is the most important thing we do. Will we make mistakes along the way? Absolutely and plenty. But it's what we do after that matters. In the next few weeks we will be resubmitting our Spire at the speed and flight we had hoped for, along with announcing a couple of awesome new projects.
